ROBOTRONIKA
23. - 29. June 1998, Vienna

Current developments in automation and robotics confront us with diverging future possibilities: Will self-teaching household devices and automated work systems lead to improved standards of living or to unemployment? Will the future be dominated by individuals creatively programming on Lego sets or will we live in fear of remote-controlled war?

An increasing number of internationally renowned artists are dealing with robotic technology, cybernetic systems, mechanical environments and the production of robots. Visitors to ROBOTRONIKA had the rare opportunity to view robotic exhibits from numerous areas of application such as industry, high-tech entertainment, science, medicine and art.

In the accompanying symposia, robotics experts from business/commerce, research and art discussed with political representatives the social and economic implications of automation and hypothesized future scenarios.
