The Institute for New Culture Technologies in Vienna firmly opposes any policy leading to discrimination, defamation and intimidation.
The participation of the Freedom Party (FPOE) in the Austrian government represents a dangerous precedent for the political unity of Europe. The FPOE's inclusion in the government amounts to a political legitimisation of acts such as playing down Nazi crimes and stirring up resentment, xenophobia and sexism.
It also acts to legitimise attempts of political zigzagging, refusal of dialogue, and intimidation against dissenters.
Cultural workers have repeatedly been attacked by the Freedom Party. The Institute for New Culture Technologies t0 has itself experienced what it means to be an opponent of Joerg Haider when a slandering campaign against it could only be stopped by court action. The court ruling has since successfully countered his defamations.
The FPOE's inclusion in the government is a serious threat to democracy. Therefore we appeal to you to continue to critically monitor the developments in Austria, so that this unacceptable political situation can be reversed and can never become an example for others.
Isolating not only the current governmental coalition, but also those forces that resist it, would mean working into the hands of the FPOE in its efforts to undermine a critical public.

Das Institut für Neue Kulturtechnologien t0 stellt sich entsch ieden gegen jede Politik, die zu Diskriminierung, Diffamierung und Einschüchterung führt.
Die Regierungsbeteiligung der FPÖ stellt einen gefährlichen Präzedenzfall für die politische Einheit Europas dar. Die Verharmlosung der Verbrechen des Nationalsozialismus, das Schüren von Ressentiments, von Fremdenfeindlichkeit, Rassismus und Sexismus, Versuche, Andersdenkende einzuschüchtern, Dialogverweigerung und Wortbruch werden dadurch als Mittel der Politik legitimiert.
Kulturschaffende wurden wiederholt von der Freiheitlichen Partei angegriffen. Das Institut für Neue Kulturtechnologien t0 hat selbst durch eine Hetzkampagne zu spüren bekommen, was es heißt, ein Gegner Jörg Haiders zu sein. Dieser Diffamierung konnte durch eine gerichtliche Klage erfolgreich begegnet werden.
Die Regierungsbeteiligung der FPÖ ist eine ernsthafte Bedrohung für die Demokratie. Bitte verfolgen Sie die Entwicklung in Österreich weiterhin kritisch, damit dieses Beispiel nicht Schule macht.
Nicht nur die derzeitige Regierungskoalition, sondern auch die Kräfte des Widerstandes zu isolieren, unterstützt das Ziel der FPÖ, eine kritische Öffentlichkeit zu verhindern.

L'entrée du FPOE au gouvernement équivaut à une légitimation politique d'actes tel la banalisation des crimes nazis, l'encouragement des préjuges, de la xénophobie, du racisme et du sexisme, ainsi que les tentatives d'intimidation envers les dissidents, le refus du dialogue et les fausses promesses.
Nombre d'acteurs culturels ont été à plusieurs reprises attaqués par le FPOE. L'Institut des Nouvelles Technologies Culturelles s'est rendu compte de ce que cela signifiait d'être un opposant de M. Haider lorsqu'une action en justice s'est avérée nécessaire pour mettre fin à une campagne de diffamation menée par le FPOE.
La participation de ce parti d'extrême droite au gouvernement est une menace sérieuse pour la démocratie. Nous vous demandons de garder un oeil critique sur l'évolution des événements afin d'inverser le processus et que jamais cette intolérable situation politique ne puisse servir de modèle pour d'autres.
Isoler non seulement la nouvelle coalition gouvernementale mais également les mouvements de résistance qui la combatte c'est aider le parti d'Haider dans son effort de sape d'un public critique.
