Climbing the ranks
USA saw a 27% increase in immigrants over last
year, and India climbed from the sixth position to
number three. Aziz Haniffa with the latest INS figures
OF THE 915,900 legal immigrants admitted to the United
States last year, 44,859 or 4.9 per cent of the total were
from India, ranking it number three among countries
providing the largest number of immigrants to the USA. This
is according to figures released in Washington last week by
the Immigration and Naturalization Service.
Mexico provided the largest number of legal immigrants
