The next meeting of the Virtual Reality SIG will be on this Thursday evening, September 26th, at 7:30 PM. Featured will be the Icelandic wizards at "Oz Interactive", one of the leaders in the field of developing tools that enable multi-user, avatar based, 3D VRML worlds on the internet. Joining us live for a demonstration will be Thor Gunnarsson, VP of Strategic Relations at Oz Interactive. Thor will demonstrate the Oz Virtual client, which turns any VRML world into a shared, multi-user, environment. Oz Interactive has also pioneered the new field of using motion capture technology to animate avatars so they move as humans do. Another development of Oz Interactive is the SOFT2VRML conversion utility that translates the geometry of 3D models created with SoftImage’s advanced 3D authoring tools. We will also welcome Gudjon Gudjonsson and Skuli Mogensson, two of the top executives at Oz Interactive, who will join us from San Francisco via a videoconferencing session. The live event will be at The Electronic Café International, located at 1649 18th Street in Santa Monica. Exit the 10 Freeway at Cloverfield, go north to Olympic, take a left to 18th Street, then right to the end of the block.
